Sometimes A Rice Krispy Treat Is All You Need To Bring A Smile To Your Face!

Have you ever eaten a rice krispy treat? No, I mean a REAL rice krispy treat! Well, when I grew up I was introduced to the finest rice krispy treats on the planet, no doubt!

My Aunt Carol has been known for years for her soft, gooey, melt in your mouth rice krispy treats. I can guarantee you the ones you're buying in the store can't come close to this tasty one.

The dictionary describes gooey as this....I've copied it from Dictionary.com

Dictionary.com Unabridged (v 1.1) -
goo·ey

–adjective, goo·i·er, goo·i·est.
1. like or covered with goo; sticky; viscid.
2. Informal. extremely sentimental or emotionally effusive.

Personally, I like the #2 definition cause I'm filled with emotion when I eat my Aunt Carol's rice krispy treats....especially when they arrive in the mail UNEXPECTEDLY!

Yes, you read that right, she mails them to me! My Aunt lives in the Cincinnati, Ohio area at this time but she lived in the same area that I grew up in most of my life. Going home to see my parents also meant being able to visit with my Aunt Carol.

On my recent 42nd birthday a box arrived from my Aunt Carol and it contained a bag of her original rice krispy treats and some chocolate ones (a girl's brown vegetable, chocolate). Well, I must confess that I hid them from my children and my husband because I knew they'd be gone in a swallow.

Well, when Heather got wind that Aunt Carol sent me rice krispies in the mail she immediately placed her order since her birthday was coming in March. My Aunt told her she'd see what she could do.

Yesterday the mail arrived and there was a box from Aunt Carol - now this time it was waaay bigger then last time. It was an all out war as Heather and I fought while opening the box. In it we found 2 ziploc bags of strawberry rice krispies and 2 bags of original rice krispies and a note, it read....

Patti -
I am early. Weather has been awful so I did some cooking etc.
HAPPY 16th BIRTHDAY!
Share with MOM. She and Dad are the reason you are here.
Love to all
Have a great time in Florida!

Now, I'm pretty sure Aunt Carol meant to put Heather instead of addressing it to me BUT she didn't and that's what caused the tug of war! Hahaha!

Anyway - Heather now feels just as special as I did when I received my birthday rice krispy treat supply in the mail.

I'm pretty certain that I'm very blessed to have an Aunt like Aunt Carol, she's always been involved and interested in my life and now my families' life. The sleepovers as a young girl at Aunt Carol's house that I will hold in my memory bank sustain me as a mother some days because she taught us how to have fun and to enjoy family.

Oh, I can't forget this too, Aunt Carol is also remembered for her creamin's. If you're a Muir child or a Yost child you know what I'm referring to. Aunt Carol used to love to have us rub cream on her legs and feet and if we did that then we got to walk to the Dunkin Donuts up the street and get a donut. She would have us nieces and nephews spend the night with her and Uncle Phil often.

I also remember one time when Aunt Carol was coming up the steps with a basket full of laundry and we hid and scared her, laundry went flying everywhere. I think we got in trouble for that one. If any of the Muir kids or Yost kids remembers who was involved in that, leave me a comment and help me remember who the sneaky ones were.

Oh, I remember nachos in the oven too. Aunt Carol only used Colby cheese on her nachos and Oh my goodness, it makes for a yummy nacho in your mouth!

Oh and the peas out the apartment window...wasn't that Tim Yost (cousin) who didn't want his and he scraped them out the window and the neighbor told Aunt Carol?

So, it's only appropriate for me to thank Aunt Carol for all the ways she sends her love...in rice krispy treat packages, e-mails on a constant basis and for all the sounds of laughter that I still have in my memory bank from time spent with Aunt Carol!

We all know you love Tony the most but you've always made us feel loved too....Hahaha! (Inside joke in the Muir/Yost families.)

Love You Aunt Carol!

The sneaky ones who caused the thrown laundry were Judy, Patti, Terrie. I believe it was TERRIE'S idea! We got Aunt Carol good that time! Definitely lots of fun memories. Jude
