If you've read my posting titled "Blood pressure headache and a toeprint" then you know who Fred is.
We've been without Fred for several days. Fred has two mommies (ooo, that's scary) cause both Heather and her friend Nikki bought the hamster together. Fred has primarily lived here at our house until this past weekend when Nikki took Fred for a spend the night (for several nights) sleepover.
Prior to Fred going to Nikki's for her big spend the night adventure she went on some adventures here. She officially acquired the new name "escape artist" - I named her!The first time she displayed her escaping abilities was when she got out in the middle of the night and we found her exploring Heather's messy closet the next morning. We're surprised she's still alive after that adventure. Well, the most recent time she escaped we found her in the wall - yes in the wall! Dave and I were awoken (is that a word?) at 4:45a to a scratching sound and when we explored where it was coming from we discovered Fred was not in her cage!
We woke Heather and we were all on a mission to find out where the heck the furry creature was hiding. We could hear her but couldn't figure out where she was. After Heather completely emptied her under the sink cabinet we realized she was IN THE WALL! She had snuck through a tiny hole under the cabinet and found her way to who knows where!!!?
I left the room to get us a flashlight so we could at least see in the hole. By the time I returned, Heather had busted a piece of wood off and grabbed Fred, the newly named ESCAPE ARTIST!
Fred is now home from her sleepover at Nikki's house where she never even attempted to show off her escape artists techniques. Hmmm...Nikki even left her cage open and had the cage in the bathtub and the hamster never escaped the bathtub.
When Heather got home with Fred, Josh was so happy to see her and even Missi (our dog) came to greet her. The funny thing was that while Heather was driving my car home with Fred in her cage in the backseat, Fred was running like a wild woman in her ball! It was really funny! She was going nowhere! She would stop and peak her head out the ball into the tube and then jerk it back like - oh, I'm not there yet, I'll keep running! I'm telling you, you had to be there and see it, it was truly funny!
Fred also shows signs of ADHD because the furry creature cannot sit still when she's out of her cage. She must run and explore all over and if she's on you she has no regard for whether she's standing on your head or trying to walk up your arm sleeve. Right now she's running around in her ball. Heather gave her a carrot and she right away put it in her cheek pouches. Just a minute ago though we heard something clicking while she's running and she's obviously not interested in the carrot so I'm assuming the carrot is dizzy by now since Fred runs pretty fast!
So, now that Fred is home for awhile we should have many more "Escape Artist" stories to share with you! Everyone needs a "Fred", she keeps things exciting!

Is Fred short for Fredricka? I noticed you kept referring to Fred as "her". Glad he/she is home and safe!
You go, Fred! Livin' life to the fullest! My kinda gal!
