The week went by fast for all of us as we wrapped up the 2007-2008 school year!
Heather will be a Junior next year and Josh will be in 4th grade!
UNBELIEVABLE!
The week was full of end of the year activities which included Young Author's Day, Field Day, End Of The Year party at Josh's school and exams for Ms. Heather.
YOUNG AUTHOR'S DAY
Parents listen as the kids read the books they've worked hard to write and illustrate.
FIELD DAY
I volunteered at Field Day and took some cute pictures of the kids.
Uh-oh, looks like Mr. Hayden is going down! What a great teacher! He never stood by and watched his kids play - he played WITH them!
Josh and Spencer!
Is Josh arm wrestling LEFT handed? What is he thinking?
These boys are always ready when I have my camera!
Justin King and Josh. Been buds since 1st grade when they met!
END OF THE YEAR PARTY!
Ms. Dawn scoops Breyers for everyone with all the toppings! What kid doesn't love ice cream!? They loved it!
OOoooops! Hannah opened the chocolate syrup and it splatted on her nose! We laughed so hard and she was so willing to allow me to take a picture of this funny memory! She was in no rush to wipe it off!
Ryan Dula and Josh
I told you these boys are always ready when I have my camera out!
SAYING GOODBYE TO MR. HAYDEN...
Well, this part of the end of the year was no easy task. We love Mr. Hayden and Josh had the best year yet with this wonderful teacher. First, the fact that he was male made all the difference in the world. Then, to have a teacher that consistently spoke encouragement, confidence and value into their lives made it really hard to tell him goodbye.
So, Josh and I worked on a special project for Mr. Hayden. We surprised him (and all the students cause no one knew we were doing this) with a towel with all 21 students' names on it. The title of the towel said "Mr. Hayden's Stars" and each name had a small star at the end of it.
Every student in his class passed the End of Grade test and his class average score (he told me) was a 4! In case you don't know what that means, you have to at least score a 3 to pass but his class was obviously above that with a 4 class average. He did his work and did it well! They are all fully prepared for 4th grade!
This is a picture of the top part of the towel...
This is the rest of the towel! He's going to hang it in his room next year to remember the students. He wrote a thank you to us and said he really enjoyed receiving it. Josh and I enjoyed making it and he sure deserved it!
After he opened it we took a class picture. What a great group of kids and what a memorable year!
Next year, Josh will go to a new school down the street that is still under construction so he'll be seperated from some of these kids. Unfortunately, Mr. Hayden is staying at Hemby Bridge Elementary and he won't be coming to Stallings Elementary with us.
I don't have any pictures of the end of the year with Heather. She got out early from exams and spent time at the pool with her friends until she had to be home that evening.
Heather goes to get her license on June 16th and is really looking forward to that!
Time to get off here and enjoy summer break!

Weirich Family, Great pictures with detailed descriptions. I thought this was the best year yet. We had a super class with super parents and that helps a great deal to make the year successful. I will miss all of my parents and students, but you all know where I will be so visit often. Have a great summer! ~Mr. Hayden :) :) :)
